EAST Behavior Expectations
All staff members are committed to making the educational experience at Holland East successful for ALL students both behaviorally and academically. A school-wide behavior program has been developed and aims at teaching students what the expectations are and how to make appropriate decisions, thus taking responsibility for their own actions.
Our goal is to "Catch Kids Being Good" in all areas of the school and to recognize them for their success. In keeping with the FiSH philosophy (Play, Make Their Day, Be There, Choose Your Attitude), you will see many different FISH around the building. An acronym has been created to help students learn and internalize our main goals. The acronym is:
Earn Respect Act Responsibly Stay Safe Try Your Best
Students "Caught Being Good" will be recognized in the following ways:
FISH Awards - Students will receive fish awards and fish stamps when they are caught being good.
Friday FISH - Each Friday, one student from each classroom will be chosen and their name will be announced to the whole school.
Sea of Success - Each month, one student with exemplary behavior will be chosen from each classroom, their picture will be posted on the wall in the front of the building.
Below you can find our "Behavior Matrix." This matrix clearly states the expectations for each area of the school.
